This apartment building in a quiet neighborhood in southern Addis Ababa, near Bole International Airport, developed for a coffee company seeking housing solutions for employees amid rising rents. It features 13 uniquely designed micro-apartments (12 to 68 sq m) and emphasizes common areas, including a small coffee forest and garden for community enjoyment. The rooftop promotes social interaction with water-saving washing facilities, thermal hot water tanks sports amenities, benches for sunset views, and BBQ areas. The system includes extended backups for power and water outages, with a rooftop thermal collector for energy-independent hot water. A backup electricity circuit ensures basic comfort during power cuts. Locally sourced recycled bricks are used for external materials, while interior furniture is locally designed and manufactured. Specific technical items are imported for quality.
