"Environmental Building Envelopes" (EBE) is an international workshop at the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development in Addis Ababa. It focused on exploring environmentally conscious and culturally sensitive facade alternatives for the city, while fostering collaboration among international designers and Ethiopian students in a global construction market.
The semester consisted of three phases: the artistic phase focused on analyzing sunlight and its design impact; the digital phase included workshops by UK engineers on tools like Grasshopper; and the building phase involved testing local materials and creating small prototypes, culminating in a 1:1 structure measuring 3 by 2 meters, displayed on campus.
